SY 2024-2025 Training Opportunity for New Food Service Directors/Managers

In August 2024, the New York State Education Department, Office of Child Nutrition Program Administration, will host in-person trainings specifically designed for food service directors and managers who have been in their positions for five years or less. These full-day sessions, held at multiple locations statewide, will offer comprehensive training covering all aspects of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

Through these trainings, participants will acquire knowledge of program requirements and benefit from insights shared by a diverse group of experts. NO Kid Hungry and Hunger Solutions NY will provide resources and guidance on ways to enhance access to and participation in school meal programs. The Office of General Services, Division of Food Distribution, will address logistical considerations and share best practices related to USDA foods. Additionally, an experienced food service director will offer practical advice on implementing the knowledge gained during the training. See below for the full agenda.

Food and beverages will not be provided, however, participants will have time to obtain lunch on their own near the training location. Each session will contribute 7 credit hours towards Professional Standards training requirements and will be conducted at a facility, which will to the greatest extent possible, meet the accessibility needs of individuals with disabilities. If special accommodations are needed, please send a request by emailing CNtraining@nysed.gov or call 518-473-8781.

The New York State Education Department is committed to providing ongoing training and technical assistance to Child Nutrition Program operators. Email CNtraining@nysed.gov to submit questions ahead of the training sessions.
