The New York State Education Department (SED) has received approvals for the following four waiver requests submitted to the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service for rescinded policy waivers as issued in SFSP 01-2019, Summer Food Service Program Memoranda Rescission, October 11, 2018.*
Offer versus Serve: allows use of the SFSP Meal Pattern for all sponsoring organizations in good standing.
Meal Time Restrictions: waive meal service time restrictions for SFSP sponsors. Specifically, meal service time duration and the minimum amount of time that must elapse between meals.
Closed Enrolled Sites: waive the collection of income eligibility applications and allow closed enrolled sites to use data sources as outlined in policy memorandum SFSP 03-2017, Area Eligibility in Child Nutrition Programs, to verify that the site is located in an eligible area.
First Week Site Visit: waive first week site visit requirements for sites in good standing that have operated successfully in the previous year, and sponsors that successfully participated in the CACFP or the NSLP.
*Please note the above approved waivers are NOT the Nationwide Waivers that were available to sponsors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
