Adult Selling Prices

Breakfast

  • Schools that receive regular reimbursement for breakfast must charge a minimum of $2.00 plus tax for an adult breakfast meal
  • Schools that receive severe need reimbursement for breakfast must charge a minimum of $2.37 plus tax for an adult breakfast meal

Lunch

  • Schools that receive under 60% ($3.5699) for lunch must charge a minimum of $3.94 plus tax for an adult lunch
  • Schools that receive under 60% plus the additional PBR* ($3.6399) for lunch must charge a minimum of $4.01 plus tax for an adult lunch
  • Schools that receive over 60% ($3.5899) for lunch must charge a minimum of $3.96 plus tax for an adult lunch
  • Schools that receive over 60% plus the additional PBR* ($3.6599) for lunch must charge a minimum of $4.03 plus tax for an adult lunch
  • Schools that receive under 60%, plus the additional PBR* and the 30% NYS Initiative State Subsidy ($3.7701) for lunch must charge a minimum of $4.15 plus tax for an adult lunch
  • Schools that receive over 60%, plus the additional PBR* and the 30% NYS Initiative State Subsidy ($3.7901) for lunch must charge a minimum of $4.17 plus tax for an adult lunch

       *Performance-based cash reimbursement (PBR) is 7 cents

Student Selling Price

There is no maximum selling price for reimbursable lunches and breakfasts served to full price or paid students.  However, if your lunch price is less than $3.09, you must evaluate your average selling lunch price to determine the required increase for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please see the Paid Lunch Equity Tool for more details. Beginning July 1, 2019, students approved for reduced-price meals must receive breakfast, lunch and snack meals at no charge.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
