THE STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT / THE UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK / ALBANY, NY 12234 Office of P-20 Education Policy |
To ensure continued integrity in the Child Nutrition Programs, the New York State Education Department (SED) is requiring all School Food Authorities (SFAs) opting to participate in the After-School Snack Program or an Extended Day/Expanded Learning Time Program during the 2017-18 school year to complete a Program Addition Application. Even if your SFA has had prior approval in past years to serve snacks in an After-School Snack Program or an Extended Day/Expanded Learning Time Program, you must re-apply for the 2017-18 school year.
To be eligible to receive reimbursement for snacks you serve, your program must fall within the guidelines for participation in either the Afterschool Care Program or Extended Day/Expanded Learning Time Schools.
Applications must be submitted prior to your snack program start date. Only complete and eligible applications will be considered. Incomplete, and/or ineligible applications will be returned and not considered. A written notification of application approvals/denials will be sent to your SFA. Meals served prior to the approval date are not eligible for reimbursement.
To apply for the After-School Snack Program or an Extended Day/Expanded Learning Time Program, request an application at cn@nysed.gov – put Snack Program Addition in the subject line.
