No Kid Hungry Summer Grant Opportunity

No Kid Hungry Summer Grant Opportunity Now Open!

A key part of No Kid Hungry's work is to expand access to and participation in summer meals programs. This summer, our summer grant opportunity will support the expansion of non-congregate summer feeding models (grab-n-go meals, home-delivered meals and/or parent/caregiver pick-up) by providing funding to sponsors operating the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in rural communities.

Grant funds will be prioritized for schools and community organizations seeking to expand the reach of non-congregate meal programs in high-priority communities. Strategies may include:

New summer meals sponsors who have previously not served non-congregate meals and are launching non-congregate programs to operate in new areas with gaps in service.
Existing summer meals sponsors adding new non-congregate meal sites and/or increasing accessibility of existing sites by keeping sites open additional hours, increasing the number of meals being served, shifting hours to better meet community needs, or improving site locations.
Leveraging non-congregate models which have been demonstrated to be more effective at reaching kids, including home delivery and mobile route distribution.
Maximizing program operations to serve the maximum allowable number of meals each week and for the duration of the summer, such as providing weekend meals or extending service throughout the month of August.

Interested in Applying?  To be considered for a No Kid Hungry New York Summer Grant, schools and community organizations must first complete the No Kid Hungry 2025 Summer Grant Inquiry Form to express interest in funding. The priority deadline to complete the inquiry form is Friday, April 4th.  The No Kid Hungry team will review each submission and if the proposal is in alignment with our focus areas, the applicant will receive an initiation to complete a full application by Wednesday, April 30th.

Questions? If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Liz Lucas by email at elucas@strength.org

Please note, all SFSP rural non-congregate meal programs must be approved by the New York State Education Department (SED).  For more resources on non-congregate meal service, please visit the SFSP webpage on the SED website and/or contact your Child Nutrition Program representative.
